[Apostle Willard Richards Journal] The Presidency and officers of First Division met in the council house, 9 a.m., when it was voted to build two rawhide boats for First Division. Also to fit out 50 wagons with horse and mule teams. It was agreed that three men should go in each wagon and carry 1 bushel seed corn, 1 bushel potatoes, 1 ½ bushel oats, also all the garden seeds, peas, millet, barley, etc., etc., that could be got. Also to send 20 plows for the division. Received instructions from President Young, and orders to visit all the pioneers, get them read, appoint a rendezvous, and meet again next Saturday at 9 a.m. Adjourned about 2 p.m. Dr. [Richards] got up about 1 p.m.
President B. Young came in office about 3. Wrote a letter. Saw T. O. Angell and gave him directions how to fix his wagon for the journey. Dr. in and about office all p.m. [afternoon]. In the evening wrote a letter to Elder Appleby, Philadelphia. G. A. Smith came in office at half past 7. Also Brother McClerry about 8. President Young.
Patty Sessions delivered Mary Ann, wife of Joseph Bates Noble, of a daughter named Mary Elizabeth, born February 27, 5 a.m.
