[Minutes, Quorum of Twelve] Nov[ember]. 4. 1847 " to 8 PM
Meeting of the Council of the Apostles in Pres[iden]t Young s room.
Present[:] Pres[iden]ts. B[righam]. Young, [Heber C.] Kimball, [Williard] Richards, [Parley P.] Pratt, [Wilford] Woodruff, [George A.] Smith, [Amasa] Lyman, [Ezra T.] Benson., Dr. Sprague, T[homas]. B[ullock].
Letters were read from Thomas Kington [at] Garden Grove.
Capt[ai]n. Dan Jones Wales to write to brother Kington B. Young[: It is] better to stay & eat up their crops. [T]hen [they can] come up in [the] Spring & settle on [the] other side of [the] river as near as possible to Bluffs-(1034 miles to [the] Valley).
[A] letter from W[illia]m. Smith to Mrs. Malinda Miller [was] read-
Dr. Sprague-[A] letter had been sent by W[illia]m. Smith-& ans[were]d. by O[rson] Hyde telling him to chop wood.
B. Young-[I]t is surprising that a natural brother of Joseph[ s] should be such a fool.-
H. C. Kimball[: S]ome one told me that Pichet kicked him out of doors-
B. Y.[: S]hall we write a letter to brother Kington?
H C K.[: We had] better give them some council. [S]hall we set an ox mill to work[?]-
E. T. B.[: T]his mill can grind about 1/3rd. faster by a little alteration.
H C K[: M]ore than one half of the water runs to waste now-
B. Y.[: T]he faster you can make your big Wheel run, the better.
G A. S.[:] I move that a letter be written to brother Kington, advising them to stay till near Spring then remove the poor up first, & then themselves-O[rson]. Pratt sec[onde]d. Carried.
O. Pratt[: S]hould a letter be written to Wales?
W. Woodruff[:] "I motion that we write a letter." E. T Benson sec[onde]d: Carried.
O. Pratt spoke about Thomas Burdick keeping a School-his terms [were] read-
[A] letter from Lorenzo Snow about tithing [was] read.
E. T. Benson motioned that they pay the tithing as last Winter-W Woodruff sec[onde]d. [It was] carried.
H. C. Kimball motioned an adjournement to 9 tomorrow morning-[Motion was] sec[onde]d. & carried-
