[Hosea Stout Diary] Sat Nov. 20th 1847. At home & around as usual[.] Went to Council. Twelve acting on sending off Elders to preach. Mostly High Priests L. H. Calkins.
J. D. Wright, E. H. Groves & J. W. Cummings were appointed from among the police
A short time after dark we had a report that there was a dance at L. N. Scovils that was unlawful there being no Bishop present[.] L. H. Calkins went in and notified them to disperse which they did. Some of them had not yet learned the law.
