[Brigham Young Sermon] Elder Brigham Young addressed the members of his ward. Said that it was good to be called a saint and have our names cast as evil that we may be numbered with the transgressors as was Jesus in whose mouth guile was not found, yet he was numbered with the transgressors for transgressing the laws of the land and of foolish men. For the same purpose Paul was beheaded, Stephen stoned and Joseph Smith shot in jail. This is a trick of the Devil to cause the Saints to mingle with ungodly characters. The Bible says when the saints or sons of God came up to worship, satan came also and will continue to do so until justice is brought to the line and judgment to the plummet which will bring to pass the saying of the apostle when speaking of the time when every plant that offendeth or worketh iniquity should be plucked out, then we shall build up the Kingdom of God in purity. Then we shall no longer have thieves in our midst and devils and wicked men to seduce every woman that they can. Such characters the devil has always rushed in our midst to try to overthrow the truth. Jesus had such to follow him, eat, drink with, still were devils from the beginning. George J. Adams, John C.
