[Apostle Willard Richards Journal] Winter Quarters. Pleasant day, wind light and variable. About noon Presidents Young, Kimball, and Benson returned from laying hands on John ScottÂ's wife who was sick. President of first company and captains in session [at] council house organizing the several hundreds. Young and Richards and Benson present till 2 p.m. when the second company of seventies came in and the council adjourned to Friday, 10 a.m., and the seventies had their picnic party.
About 5 p.m. Presidents Young and Benson blessed Willard. Brigham, Richards at the Octagon and Sister Hinman's little daughter. Benson took supper. President Young returned to the picnic and danced in the evening. Dr. [Richards] wrote a letter to the Saints at Punca. Closed about 12 midnight.
