Mormon History, Jan 25, 1847

[Hosea Stout Diary] Monday January 25th 1847. This was a dull dark cloudy day, trying to snow,A drove of some one or two hundred hogs came in today. I was around as usual & arrainged the guard as before. In the evening I went to the meeting of Brighams Company at the council house.
The company was organized by appointin. The following officer to wit Isaac Morley President, & John Young & Reynolds Cahoon Councillors. This constituted the Presidency of the Company according to the "Word & Will of the Lord".
There was then four Captains of hundreds appointed to wit: 1 Daniel Spencer, 2 Edward Hunter, 3 Jeddediah M. Grant, 4 & Willard Snow.
There was then eight Captains of fifties: to wit: 1 Jacob Gates, 2 Erastus Snow, 3 Benjm Brown, 4 James W. Cummings5 Ira Eldridge6 Benjm L. Clapp, 7 Joseph M. Nobles, and James Bird
The captains of tens were not appointed but refered to the several hundreds & fifties
There was then instructions given to the officers how to proceede & the future plans of opperations explained but I will speak of these things as they come along[.] I then came home.
