Feb[ruary]. 14. 1849 10 a.m. [The c]ommittee met in [the] Council house Office. B[righam]. Y[oung]., H[eber]. C. K[imball]., [Amasa] Lyman,'-[ParleyP.] Pratt,'-[John] Taylor,'-J[edediah]. M. Grant,'-Lor[enzo] 232 Snow.'-J[oseph]. L. Heywood,'-E[rastus]. Snow, N[ewell]. K. Whitney, T[homas]. B[ullock]. Pres[iden]t. Young proposed dividing the City into wards of 9 blocks each.'-[Motion was] sec[onde]d. [and] carried'-which was then done'-& separated. Meeting of the Quorum of Twelve at the home of John Taylor on February 14, 1849. Voted recommend to the president that the county south of the city and east of the Jordan be divided into three wards. namely, First Canyon Creek ward embracing the five acres survey and all east of it. Second the Millcreek ward embracing the 10 acre survey and all east of it. Third, Mississippi Ward embracing the country south of the 10 acre survey. Fourth, that the country west of the Jordan be organized into a ward called Cannan Ward. Voted, the country north of the city be divided into three wards with First, all north of the city so far as includes the session settlement, second, the country line between that settlements and the settlements on the Weber. Third, the Brown settlement. The three last named were not named but submitted on account of the names of certain streams north- south bearing so nearly a resemblance. Voted to adjourn until the 24th.
