Mormon History, Feb 11, 1849 (Afternoon)

[Brigham Young Sermon] President Young spoke similar to his discourse last Sabbath only did not reprimand quite so severe. His discourse was cheering... In the evening I attended the High Priest's meeting. Here the President taught again. He said among other things that he was going to work and tomorrow the Quorum of the Twelve would be filled up and that the Twelve should set in order the other Quorums. That the reins should now be tightened up. I cannot pass over one thing which took place here. President Amasa Lyman has been very sick and had so far recovered that he was here but his lungs being so disordered that he could not speak above his breath, the President and several Elders laid hands on him. The President being mouth commanded the disease to be rebuked and pronounced the blessing of health to rest upon him that he should arise and speak to our edification tonight which he did for in a few moments he arose and addressed for about half an hour. This took place in presence of a large congregation, all who can bear testimony of the same. DJLJ 1:89-90. President Brigham Young addressed the saints in public. Spoke of their condition and of the oppression of the poor. Said to those that have corn to spare, to let it go on reasonable terms; said to those that had to buy, not to be particular about what they had to pay, for it would be salvation to them but death to the seller that extortioned'- The remarks of President Young greatly ameliorated the condition of the poor, for every man that could be touched was stirred by way of remembrance and began to let corn go. -- Salt Lake City [On the Mormon Frontier, the Diaries of Hosea Stout.
