Mormon History, Friday, Feb 26, 1847.

[Apostle Willard Richards Journal] Wind northeast with frequent gusts of snow. Also drifting. Got colder towards evening. T. B. [Thomas Bullock] called on N. K. Whitney, William Clayton, J. M. Grant, H. C. Kimball, B. Young, O. Pratt, E. T. Benson, W. Woodruff, G. A. Smith, and A. Lyman, notifying them to attend at the recorderÂ's office at 1 p.m. Dr. [Richards] came in office quarter past 12. At 1 p.m., B. Young, H. C. Kimball, W. Richards, O. Pratt, W. Woodruff, G. A. Smith, A. Lyman, E. T. Benson, N. K. Whitney, G. Miller, J. M. Grant, W. Hatton, T. Bullock, A. P. Rockwood met in the office to consult about western affairs, constructing boats, pioneers traveling, seeds, location, irrigation, science, etc., etc. Voted that the Dr. write a letter to O. Hyde in the east to get certain articles wanted at our location. Also to write a letter to the President of O. HydeÂ's encampment for two or three pioneers to be fitted out with seeds, provisions, etc. Isaac Morley came into the council and appointed a meeting of the captains and presidency of the First Division to be held in the council house tomorrow morning at 9 oÂ'clock.
A professed Spaniard with Lucy, his wife, formerly Lucy Stanton, and a stranger, came into the meeting. They stated that at Columbia it was reported that the Â"MormonsÂ" were gone to California last fall and some, who had stayed behind, had been in battle and were killed off by the Indians. About 5, adjourned to meet again at early candlelight. Copied a letter to Alexander Badlam. Do. [Copied a letter] to John C. Little. Do. [Copied a letter] to Jonathan Browning, for President YoungÂ's signature. Delivered to Luke Johnson. Also drew an order on trustees in Nauvoo to fit out the son, son-in-law, and daughter of Malatiah Luce who had loaned money to the Nauvoo House Association, and sent same to Stephen Luce, Iowa Territory, 12 miles west of Nauvoo.
Dr. wrote a letter to Jedediah M. Grant, instructing him to procure stuff in the seaports, of different colors. About 7 p.m., the brethren began to assemble again, viz. B. Young, H. C. Kimball, W. Richards, O. Pratt, G. A. Smith, A. Lyman, E. T. Benson, W. Woodruff, T. Bullock, Erastus Snow, J. M. Grant, (R. Campbell, Hosea Stout, Simeon A. Dunn, and Marshall Eldridge.) Also present, Luke Johnson. President Young inquired for teams to carry the pioneers, four by B.Y. [Brigham Young]; three by H.C.K. [Heber C. Kimball]; one W.W. [Wilford Woodruff]; one A. L. [Amasa Lyman]; one E. T. B. [Ezra T. Benson]; one O. Pratt; one Erastus Snow, for that purpose. President Young gave out an appointment for tomorrow morning at 9. The council separated about 9, many going to hear the Nigger Indian play his flute. Dr. [Richards] went to hear the flute.
Patty Sessions delivered Mary Marian, wife of William Henry Kimball, of a daughter named Anna Mary, born February 26, 10 p.m.
