[Oliver Cowdery] Oliver's brother Dyar died at Farmersville, Cattaraugus, NY (near the home of Warren A. Cowdery in Freedom). Dyar was 36, a bachelor, and a physician. (1)

-- 1829 Aug
[Sydney Rigdon] The Beaver (and subsequently Redstone) Baptist Association publishes an anathema against all members of the Mahoning Baptist Association in OH, breaking off fellowship -- some Redstone churches in Pennsylvania object to this action and separate from their parent organization to form the Washington Baptist Assoc. (2)

Printing of the Book of Mormon began in the Grandin Printing Shop, Palmyra, New York. (3)

Smith locates a publisher for the Book of Mormon in Palmyra and typesetting begins. The 5,000 copy initial print run is financed by a $3,000 mortgage on Harris' farm. (4)

[Joseph Smith] The Book of Mormon is typeset and printed at Grandin's print shop. John Gilbert sets the type and receives manuscript pages from Hyrum Smith. [PALMYRA,] (5)

Oliver Cowdery buys a 1828 H. & E. Phinney Bible with the Apocryphia at E. Phinney Bible with the Apocryphia at Egbert B. Grandin's book store in Palmyra, NY for $3.75. (6)

[Lucy Mack Smith] John H. Gilbert begins typesetting the Book of Mormon with the assistance of John H. Bortles on the press. (7)

-- Aug 25, 1829
[Lucy Mack Smith] E. B. Grandin, after once refusing to print Book of Mormon, agrees when Martin Harris mortgages his farm for the full amount of $3,000 for 5,000 copies. Grandin buys more type that winter. (7)

-- Aug 28, 1829-30
[Oliver Cowdery] Sidney Rigdon attended the annual meeting of Mahoning Baptist Association at Warren, Trumbull, OH. William H. Whitsitt later speculated that Rigdon planned to bring Joseph Smith, Jr. to this meeting, but that he changed his mind and attended without Smith. (1)

[Lucy Mack Smith] Printing process begins for Book of Mormon. (8)

Rochester Gem prints Martins Harris' description of the plates as 8" x 6" x 1/8." . (6)

[Lucy Mack Smith] Samuel leaves on a mission to Livonia, New York. (7)

[Joseph Smith] Joseph Jr. arrives in Harmony and writes to Oliver Cowdery that he has bought a horse from Mr. Stowell and wants someone to come after it. [HARMONY,] (5)
