[Apostle Willard Richards Journal] Pleasant Grove Encampment. Heavy thundershower at 1 this morning. At 9, President Young, accompanied by Bishop Miller, Peter and Alfius Haws, rode on the prairie to look out a road to east branch of Grand River. Returned at 4 p.m. and reported very hilly road. At 5, the first left Pleasant Grove traveling 1 mile and encamped at Muddy Branch on the north bank. The pitching of the tents was followed immediately by a thunderstorm and rainbow, but the sun set clear. Four turkeys and bee tree reported in camp, first 50, two bears also.
