[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] 8th In the morning we arose & took Breakfast. A squirrel was killed it being the first game killed in the camp of the Pioneers. I moved that as it was the first fruits of the game that it be offered to the Priest. It was presented to President Young for his Breakfast.
President Young in company with Father Morley & others went to the old [camp ground] to pick them out a place for A farm.
I with several others spent the day Hunting & Caught nothing but weary limbs & wet feet. We saw 7 or 8 deer & geese ducks cranes &c but could not get any. As I returned in the evening I understood that P P Pratt Had arived in winter quarters from his mission in England & that President Young O Pratt & others had gone back to the city to see him. Distance of the day 12 m.
