The Patriarchal blessing of Mary Maxwell deceased daughter of Josep[h] and Elizabet[h] Glover born Wabash Co Illinois about the year 1818 conferred upon the head of Delilah Maxwell as proxy daughter of John A and Catherine born Preble County Ohio 27[t]h July 1813.
Beloved Sister- In the name of Jesus Christ I lay my hands upon your head and bless you with Patriarchal blessing, that this blessing may afford thee some comfort for the one intended for whom thou art now acting as proxy. that as her Representative, the true character and state of her condition may now be represented by a blessing upon thine head, that she who is dead in the flesh and yet alive in the Spirit may have sealed upon her according to the authority of the Holy Priesthood that sealing blessing that may bind her Salvation in heaven, and be to the praise of her name in
the kingdom of almighty God because she was a true and faithful Spirit and all the day long did she serve her companion and her God,
and although having to encounter many conflicts and temptations through life still her spirit was numbered with those who are counted honorable on the face of the earth she had a heart that desired to see the prosperity of Zion the Salvation and comfort of her home the integrity of her heart had borne her up in the midst of all her and by that inspiration that points to the view the prospects of brighter hopes and more exalted glory, she was born up in the midst of all her trials and afflictions bidding farewell to this world and all earthly considerations and with a firm grasp she laid hold of the prospects of the future and her soul is now made happy in God, she was of the royal decent a daughter of Abraham and of the household of faith she shall be made a partaker with her husband of all the powers of the Holy Priesthood her spirit is now m
ingling with those who are made perfect and are only waiting the redemption of their bodies to receive their crown and final exaltation in the presence of God, it was in this lifetime she received all her troubles and punishments for sins after death no more pain can come upon her she was also of the lineage of Joseph, a descendant of holy worthies and her name shall never be forgotten, she shall be surrounded in the kingdom of heaven with her father[']s house, her companion shall preside over her she shall hail him as a stranger from a distant land and when he comes she shall welcome [him] as her companion to her bosom and her home, these things shall not pass without being fulfilled for as the Representative of this beloved sister upon thine head who art now acting as proxey [proxy] I confer and seal all these blessings, even the blessings of eternal life for her who is departed - a life which is everlasting eternal and im[m]ortal by the auithority of the holy Priesthood i
