Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball learn that Warren Snow and Dominicus Carter have been jailed in Quincy, Illinois, for passing counterfeit money. Bishop Joseph L. Heywood confirms that they are guilty. In Utah Snow would become a bishop and Carter a member of a stake presidency. (3)

[Anointed Quorum] Thursday evening prayer circle meeting of "the holy order" at Willard Richards's office, where Brigham Young, Heber C. Kimball, Willard Richards, John Taylor, Orson Pratt, Amasa M. Lyman, John E. Page, George A. Smith, Newel K. Whitney, George Miller, Levi Richards, and William Clayton "met for prayer" until midnight . (5)

[William Clayton Journal] ...Evening met at Dr. Richards for prayer in company with B. Young, H. C. Kimball, W. Richards, J. Taylor, O. Pratt, A. Lyman, J. E. Page, G. A. Smith, N. K. Whitney, G. Miller and L. Richards. We separated at 12 o'clock. (6)

[Apostle John Taylor diary] In forenoon attending to business. In afternoon went to the funeral of a child of Bro. Richard Harrison's, with whom I had formerly boarded in Liverpool, England;187 it was their only child, and they were very much afflicted on account of its loss. (2)

Beloved Brother In the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus christ who died to redeem the world from sin I lay my hands upon thy head to confer upon thee dear brother a father[']s blessing, a blessing that shall be truly descriptive of thy character and of thy future prosperity and life sealing a blessing upon thee that shall prove unto thee a stay and a staff in the times of thy gloom and trouble for thou hast seen afflictions in days that are past and thine heart has been inspired by the Spirit of truth to seek greater light and knowledge and the God of thy Salvation has led thee according to the desire of thine heart and truly thy faith in the God of Abraham hath made thee whole and brought thee to see the Zion of the last days & made thy heart rejoice because of his glorious works and the light and knowledge that thy heart has aspired after has now dawned upon thy understanding and thy former expectations have been realized thus far in the glory of this work that thou has
t embraced with a pure heart and with a determination to be numbered with the Israel of God

thou shalt still be made a partaker of greater blessings and thou shalt receive an endowment that is appointed unto thee and thine heart shall be filled with glory that shall reward thee for all of thy past labours thou shalt live to see the temple of God completed and before the Sanctuary of the Lord thou with thy bretheren [brethren], shalt receive an endowment for which thou hast labored, thou shalt also behold greater glories than thine heart had before anticipated, the riches of heaven shall be opened unto thee and escorts of Angels shall be round about thee and thou shalt have wisdom that shall increase thy knowledge and understanding: and gifts and blessings, the gift of the decerning [discerning] of Spirits a power given unto thee that thine enemies cannot gainsay or resist thy word for many shall believe in thy testimony and be brought to Zion for thy word shall be heard in the midst of the congregations of the wicked and thousands shall rejoice in the testimony th
at thou shall be called hereafter to bear and thy word shall be received, for by the integrity and honesty of thy heart they shall say thou art a man of truth and the Servant of the most high God, strictly bearing upon all thy ways character and conduct the marks of the seed of the house of Israel

for thou art a descendant of Abraham through the loins of Joseph and shall be numbered with the hundred and forty four thousand that shall stand upon Mount Zion in the last days and I seal as the servant of the living God upon thine head the privilege and blessing of an everlasting inheritance in the city of God and no enemy shall despoil thee or take thy crown and if thou shoulds't fall by transgression at any time, yet the Lord will hunt after thee and gather thee as a lost sheep upon the mountains and bring thee into his fold again. thy days are all numbered, thy destiny and work and labor in the ministry is appointed unto thee by the great God and thou shalt be blessed with many sheaves in the labor of thy ministry thou shalt also inherit another blessing thy family connexions [connections] which are now strange and numbered among the Gentile nations of the earth shall all be brought into the fold with thee and with thy partner whom the Lord will give unto thee thou sh
alt have the honor to preside over many these blessing with that of all that pertains to this life peculiar and necessary to a member of the church of Jesus christ of Latter day Saints and that life which is to come I confer and seal upon thee and if thou art faithful in the observance of the Spirit of God that shall be given thee at all times for the guide and instructor thou shalt inherit all these blessings for the observe of Abraham and all holy Prophets is upon thee even so Amen.
