[Patriarchal Blessings] Patriarchal Blessing of Ebenezer R. Young given by William Smith on July 1, 1845
A Blessing by William Smith Patriarch upon the head of Ebenezer R Young son of Ebenezer R and Margaret born Richmond Co New York November 1814
Dear Brother Young- It is with pleasure and with gratitude and feelings of love and respect in that bond of union that cannot be broken in the hearts of the true Saints of God that I lay my hands upon your head and by the authority of the Holy Priesthood confer upon you a blessing, according to thy request even a father[']s blessing, thou hast been a child of sorrow and acquainted with grief, many have sought not to understand thy Spirit or ways, whilst enemies have laid their snares to destroy thee, yet because of the liberality of thy soul and the nobleness of thine heart God has heard thy prayers and delivered thee from the hands of thy enemies, with a glorious deliverance and they have been brought to nought and thus it shall be
with all that raise their hands against thee and who shall seek to disturb the peace of thy Soul by night and by day, or to hinder the prosperity of thy household, for the peculiar providence of God shall be over thee and over thine house and thou shalt be protected and understand the will of God in all things pertaining to thy Salvation, thy sins shall not be remembered against thee because of the deeds of charity thou hast done,
and thou shalt be prospered in thy journey home and find all in peace and safety, and comfort the hearts of many, the Lord will continue to pour out his spirit upon thee dear Brother and thy voice shall be heard and thy testimony shall be understood and find the way to the hearts of many, and thou shalt say it was a good thing to visit Zion and see her prosperity, it is not yet made known unto thee the fulness of that Salvation that the servants of God will receive at the time of their enduement [endowment], for there are yet things to be reveale
d that will rejoice thine heart and make the[e] glad thou shalt enjoy an inheritance in Zion in times that are to come for no power can separate thee from the Israel of God for thou art a descendant of the Royal Priesthood and of a holy nation of the seed of Joseph of the faith of Abraham and of the household of God, and it shall be said of thee that thy name is great in the midst of the earth and thy voice shall be heard as the voice of mighty thunders, and the Lamanites shall rejoice in thy labors heathens also shall be made glad while the Gentiles imagine vain things, yet it shall come and none can stay it for upon thy head I seal the blessings of the Holy Priesthood with all its powers spiritual ordinances commandments glories and privileges with the blessing of eternal life in the name of Jesus christ. Amen.
