[Hosea Stout Diary] Tuesday Srptr 23. 1845. Arose about 5 this morning went with Capts Hunter & McRae to Lathorp Store & made arrangements there for the necessary provision for my Marquee â" took Breakfast at 8 o clock then made some arrangements with Col Rockwood relative to doing some butchering up the River at 9 o clock I left the Marquee with Gen Rich for my home â" returned at 10 o clock.I called the Cols & officers & gave them instructions relative to the Commisary department so as to avoid all impositions in the distribution of RationsTarried till dinner â" after which I took my Quartermaster â" to visit the sick Police â" and went home returned at 4 o clock, had some conversation with Majr Lee relative to my New Marquee.about 6 Elder P Pratt introduced 2 Indians of the Sou Tribe & committed them to my charge & that their wants should be attended to & supplied from my Marquee.After supper Levi Hancock amused with tunes on his Violin at 8 they laid down to sleep I
went home.
