[Hosea Stout Diary] Saturday Oct 4th 1845. Earley this morning I was awoke by Br J. Butterfield who told me that the cows had broke into my gardenI got up and found my cabbage nearly all destroyed by themIt was a disagreeable rainy morning.I wrote in my Journal till 9 then went to Ripleys and took my horse back to him, and then went to S. Roundys & there got in his sons Buggy and he brought me home about noon wrote in my Journal till 3 and then went to the Temple & Saw Hunter, Turly & others conversed about the old policeTurly think it all right with Brigham & the police.I then met the police and came home at dark & with Mr G.L.M. Herring and 3 others of his company.We had an entertaining eveningGeorge understands the Policy of his government well is well acquainted with many of its rulers at Washingtonhis talk is interesting and agreeable â€"
