[Hosea Stout Diary] Saturday Oct 4th 1845. Earley this morning I was awoke by Br J. Butterfield who told me that the cows had broke into my gardenI got up and found my cabbage nearly all destroyed by themIt was a disagreeable rainy morning.I wrote in my Journal till 9 then went to Ripleys and took my horse back to him, and then went to S. Roundys & there got in his sons Buggy and he brought me home about noon wrote in my Journal till 3 and then went to the Temple & Saw Hunter, Turly & others conversed about the old policeTurly think it all right with Brigham & the police.I then met the police and came home at dark & with Mr G.L.M. Herring and 3 others of his company.We had an entertaining eveningGeorge understands the Policy of his government well is well acquainted with many of its rulers at Washingtonhis talk is interesting and agreeable â"
