Mormon History, May 31, 1847 (Monday)

Gen. Stephen F. Kearney's detachment of the Battalion left Monterey and traveled by way of the Sacramento Valley, over the Sierra Nevadas, via Ft. Hall, Soda Springs, and the Platte River, where it met several companies of Saints, going west, and arrived at Ft. Leavenworth in August.
