[Apostle Willard Richards Journal] Locust Creek Encampment, Middle Fork. Wind south last night with gentle showers, west this morning. First, second, and third fifties commenced moving off at 8 a.m., and at 10 the ground was cleared. About 12 noon, arrived at the Rolling Prairie Encampment, distance six miles. President Young, Kimball [and] Richards at 2 p.m. met in council and decided that the Presidency should not leave the camp and go on to select a location for a settlement until the whole camp should pass out of Missouri. At 4:00, President Young rode out and returned at 5:00 evening. Just on the arrival of the first 50, a field of dry grass caught fire and burned over doing no damage save it deprived of bedding. Weather warm, gentle south wind at 2 p.m., grass growing fast.
