[Brigham Young Sermon] In the afternoon, I announced that our first efforts to build a temple would be expended in erecting a large wall around the temple block. I was in favor of a '"big field'" and wished all who expected to take farming land to leave their names and number of acres of land wanted with the clerk. The congregation voted to build a council house by tithing labor and that Daniel H. Wells superintend the building of the same. -- Salt Lake City [Manuscript History of Brigham Young, 1847- 1850.
