Mormon History, May 2, 1847

[Hosea Stout Diary] Sunday May 2nd 1847. Went to meeting at the stand[.] Parley spoke on keeping our cattle & being ready for the journey and wanted the Company who were going to be ready to leave the Horne organized for the Mountains on the first day of June[.] W. W. Phelps informed us that Genl Hardin, who came to Nauvoo with the Gov. troop to hunt dead men &c in the fall of 1845 was killed in a batle in Mexico, between Genl Taylor & Santa Anna. This is joy to me
I attended a council at six oclock at the Council House. I had Br Robt Campbell appointed to act as clerk of the council in my place for a while as I was likely to be otherwise engaged for a time.
