Mormon History, Apr 1, 1847

[Hosea Stout Diary] Thursday April 1st 1847. Clear and warm.no wind in the morning but it rose high in the North West in the fore noon. Went a hunting & digging (hartachokes) until near noon and then went and prepared for catching fish.
At seven oclock P. M. there was a special council called at H. S. Eldriges. It was to investigate a case wherein a Brother Rodney Badger had stolen a horse from Missouri,He frankly confessed it which was all the proof the council had. However after a long time spent in speaking on the subject it was decided that he take two more good judicious men along with him and return the horse & make satisfaction to the (innocent holly unoffending) Missourian and pay all expenses and damage. I was glad that the Twelve could yet act on the case came home at 9 oclock P. M.
