Kirtland, Ohio. After church, Joseph Smith convinced his uncle John Smith and Sidney Rigdon of the error of some accusatory remarks they had made at church. (1)

[Lucy Mack Smith] Joseph chastises Emma for leaving a meeting before the sacrament. She weeps but says nothing. (2)

[Snow, Erastus] Left Vermont for Kirtland, Ohio, 8 November 1835. (3)

Joseph Smith diary tells of his meeting with a Jewish Minister, Joshua, (also known as Robert Matthias) where Smith relayed account of first vision when he was 14, says he saw one personage and then another; the second said "Jesus Christ is the Son of God." He also saw "many angels." (4)

"Joshua the Jewish minister" calls. Joseph relates his first vision, the visitation of "angels" beginning when he was 17, and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. Joshua offers an exegesis of Daniel 2 and passages in Revelation, detailed in Joseph's diary. (6)

Joseph Smith gives the second recorded account of his first vision: "A personage appear[e]d in the midst of this pillar of flame which was spread all around and yet nothing consumed. Another personage soon appear[e]d like unto the first. He said unto me, 'Thy sins are forgiven thee.' He testifyed unto me that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I saw many angels in this vision[]I was about 14 years old when I received this first communication." (7)

Kirtland, Ohio. Joseph Smith received a visit from a man called Joshua, the Jewish Minister, who remained the entire day discussing religion. Later that day Josephs thoughts were confirmed that Joshua was really Robert Mattias and had been on trial for multiple crimes in New York. However, even this was an alias for his real name, Robert Matthews. (1)

[Murdock, John] Left Delaware County, New York, to preach in Vermont 10 November 1835. No children. (3)

Kirtland, Ohio. Joseph Smith continued in conversation with Robert Mattias (Robert Matthews) and told him his doctrines were of the devil. (1)

-- Nov 11, 1835
Christian Whitmer dies. (4)

Kirtland, Ohio. Joseph Smith believed Robert Mattias (Robert Matthews) to be a murderer and directed him to leave immediately after breakfast. (1)
