Kirtland, Ohio. At home, Joseph Smith made rapid progress translating the Egyptian records, and he received a Hebrew Bible, Greek and Hebrew lexicons, and a Websters dictionary from Oliver Cowdery, who recently returned from New York. (1)

Hebrew class decides to offer a teaching position to a New York Jew if they can cancel the agreement with Dr. Peixotto, who does not appear to be qualified. (3)

Joseph marries Newel Knight and Lydia Goldthwaite. The state does not consider Mormons ministers and therefore refuses to license them. (3)
[Joseph Smith] Kirtland, Ohio. Joseph and Emma Smith attended the wedding of Newel Knight and Lydia Goldthwaite, and Joseph performed the marriage ceremony. (1)
[Joseph Smith] While illegally performing a marriage for Newel Knight and Lydia Goldthwaite (still legally married to another man), Smith publicly announces his view of theocratic ethics: "I have done it by the authority of the holy Priesthood and the Gentile law has no power to call me to an account for it." (4)
