Mormon History, Jan 2, 1849

[Hosea Stout Diary] Tuesday Jany 2nd 1848. Today the "National Bank commenced its opperations & those who had gold dust were depositing it in the Bank at a rapid rate. It seems to take well among the people. I was there awhile & today recieved 25-00 of it for a rifle. Thawing day.
