[Hosea Stout Diary] Saturday August 8th 1846. Today saw the President again on the subject of the Cohort[.] He seemed to be very anxious to have the military put in opperation and have the officers of the Legion to take their places as near as could be consistently;I afterwards saw John D. Lee who said that he would take his place as Major of the 5th Regt[.] Nothing more of importance to day.
