Sidney Rigdon preaches that the Missouri land has been promised to the saints and asks them to accept it. (1)

[Joseph Smith] Kaw Township, Missouri. Joseph Smith assisted the Colesville Branch in laying the first log of the first house in the establishment of Zion in Missouri. (2)

[Joseph Smith] Presides as Sidney Rigdon dedicates Jackson County, Missouri, as the land of Zion. (3)

[Lucy Mack Smith] Foundation of Zion laid in Kaw Township, Jackson County, Mo. (4)

Temple site, Independence, MO, dedicated by Joseph Smith. (5)

Joseph Smith dedicated the temple site at Independence, Missouri. (6)

Joseph, Sidney Rigdon, Frederick, Oliver Cowdery, Martin Harris, Newel Knight, W. W. Phelps, Peter Whitmer Jr., and Joseph Coe gather in Independence. Sidney dedicates the city site, Joseph lays a stone at the northeast corner of the temple site. "After all present had rendered thanks to the great ruler of the Universe, Sidney Rigdon pronounced this Spot of ground wholy dedicated unto the Lord forever: Amen." (7)
