[Hosea Stout Diary] Tuesday Sept 21 1847. Sent out 3 men on guard. I was still weak and feeble
We met the Council at 2 oclock and proceeded to the case of Gardner and Russell which occupied all the after noon untill dark[.] Russell brought forward some of his family was witness in his favor but they all proved what Gardner had said to be true even his son who took the horse was a good witness in Gardners favor[.] So he mantained his ascersions and the council decided accordingly after which he offered to prove him in another lie if called for
While in council 14 head of J. H. Blazards cattle were put in the stray pen and he gave an old cow to pay the bill the cow was valued to be worth only 5 dollars, and Allen Stout took her.
