[Hosea Stout Diary] Wednesday Decr 30th 1846. So I went and entered the police orders, issued yesterday, in the treasurery and had each policeman tax applied on his order and arrainged the residue so that it could be collected by the proper policeman on demand. After that I was around as usual and at dark had a police meeting at H. S. Eldridges[.] They there approved of my course in regard to the orders and also unanimously voted to pay the tax due the police from Prest B. Young which was 15 dollars as a token of respect due him from us & as a prophet & leader to this people. After this I came home and then went on patrol guard untill about Eleven oclock.
