[Mormon Battalion] Brigham Young meets with the volunteers and their officers. Allen had permitted the men in the battalion to appoint their own officers, a captain and two lieutenants for each company, from among their own ranks.
The volunteers and their families hold a dance with music provided by Latter-day Saint bandleader William Pitt and a full brass band.
