[Brigham Young Sermon] President Brigham Young mounted the stage and said that he wanted the captains of 100's to report the number of men ready to start on the morrow, then let them go up to the fort and commence making a farm, that is, whenever a team and three men are fitted out and those that remain sustain the pioneers while they are at work in the field so that their provisions may be on hand when they start for the mountains. -- Winter Quarters, Nebraska [Journals of John D. Lee 1846-47 and 1859. Charles Kelly, ed. Salt Lake City: University of Utah Press, 1984. 121]
