[Apostle Willard Richards Journal] About noon, the Twelve assembled at Brother Benson's, read newspapers and conversed until near sunset. President Young attended the municipal high council from 6 till 9 at the council house, having previously [been] called the Octagon, and delivered a package of The Millennial Star containing the 8th number of the 8th volume; also a letter from Colonel Kane at Philadelphia, December 2nd, with other papers brought in from HuntsuckerÂ's Ferry by John Van Cot, which were read by Brothers Richards, G. A. Smith, and Lyman at the Octagon during the session of the high council.
After the adjournment of the high council, Presidents Young, Kimball, Smith, Lyman, Colonel Rockwood, and several others in the Octagon, read letter from Colonel Kane, 8th volume of Millennial Star, etc., until midnight.
