[Apostle Willard Richards Journal] Winter Quarters. [At] 1 a.m., wind changed to northwest, very cold. President Young left the Octagon with George D. Grant and Ed. [Edward] Ellsworth, [at] about 1 ½ [1:30] for home. Morning cold. All the Twelve, as the evening previous, assembled at 1 p.m. at Brother E. T. BensonÂ's, and John D. Lee read the piece the President had written called, "The Word and Will of the Lord." Approved and decided to place it before the high council. [At] 4 ½ [4:30], adjourned to tomorrow evening, 6, at Brother Benson's. President Young related the following dream to the council.
..About 6 ½ [6:30], President Young came in Dr.Â's [Richards] house with William G. and Ute Perkins. Heard the "Word and Will of GodÂ" read. Conversed in the principles of adoption by request of Brother Perkins and the Levitical Priesthood. No son of Levi has yet been found in these last days to minister at the altar. Brother Perkins said it had been reported across the river that no one could go west unless they were adopted into the families of one of the Twelve. False.
About 9 ½ [9:30], all present walked to the new council house, doors just hung, fire in each chimney place though the chimneys were not topped out with mud. The chimneys were to be composed of alternate layers of sticks covered with mud, and President Young proposed that the brethren present , about 20 bishops, etc., should continue till they had plastered all the cracks in the inside with mud, and at it they went.
Dr. Richards went home, wrote previous blessing, an order on trustees to pay Lot 2. B. 6, of HibbardÂ's Addition, to Dennis Cheney for property received by John D. Lee. At 4 ½ [4:30], as the brethren left the council, Presidents Young, Richards, [and] Kimball called on Louisa, and blessed her son, Moroni. President Young held his son. President Kimball blessed him and Dr. [Richards] wrote it. On file.
Patty Sessions delivered Harriet Teeples of a son, Solomon Wilson being the father. Child's name [is] Seth, born 2 a.m. Paid Isaac Brown an order on John D. Lee for $5.00 in full of his bill.
