Mormon History, Jan 7, 1846

[Hosea Stout Diary] Wednesday Jany 7th 1846. Met the guard at the Temple at 8 oclock as before.About the time the guard was paraded D. H. Wells came to me and told me that one of his horses were gone & requested me to have the guard to hunt for itHe offered five dollars if we found it & if it was stolen he offered ten if we found it.The guard went out to look for it in all parts of the TownI then met the Lodge at nine oclockWhile there Wells came & told me he had found his horse which had been taken up and gave me three dollars for our trouble although he found the horse himself
At one oclock I came home & took dinner and met the guards again at three.We rode to the river above the uper steam mill and then down to Main Street and down Main Street to Hodgkiss Street thence West to the river or near it & there detailed the guard for the night & then down the river to main Street again and thence to the Temple and met the police and came home at dark.
