Sarah Pratt (legal wife of Orson Pratt) told Mary Ann Pratt (legal wife of Parley P. Pratt, Orson's brother) that Parley was the father of Belinda Marden's baby's. Belinda was living at the Pratt home and had been secretly sealed to Parley without Mary Ann's knowledge. Parley confronted Sarah during the temple session, accusing her of "influencing his wife against him, and of ruining and breaking up his family," as well as "being an apostate, and of speaking against the heads of the Church and against him." Orson strongly defended his wife and after a vote, they were both expelled from the temple.
