Mormon History, Jan 15, 1848

[Hosea Stout Diary] Sat Jan 15th 1848. This morning we went to recieve our pay of the soldiers for our services but they were so very mean & penurious about paying us after so largely boasting that fifty dollars was nothing if only they could get the man that we told them that rather than take so mean & penurious a price we would not have any thing. Daniel Russell also used his influence for us not to be honorably paid as Mr Long told us.
After we were through with this soldier affair, I went to the office & reported their proceedings to the president also the way we handled Mr Long.
Here signed a petition to Washington for a post office at the Tabernacle.
President Young went to the Tabernacle today to a feast called the Jubelee.
About dark a house was burned belonging to one of the Cutlers. Loss considerable
