Mormon History, Jun 24, 1845. Tuesday.

[William Clayton Journal] ...Wm. Smith has given bail for another brother of the Hodges who was in custody for robbing, and also beat Brother [Elbridge] Tufts shamefully yesterday for a matter of small consequence. Wm. Smith is railing against the movements of the Twelve and says he has authority here to do as he has a mind to and the people shall know it. It appears he is determined to cause us trouble.
