City of Joseph 1st July 1845 A blessing by Wm Smith Patriarch upon the head of George W Coray son of Silas & Mary born Steuben County New York 4th May 1819.
Dear Brother. I lay my hands upon your head to confer upon you a Patriarchal blessing, and one that shall prove unto thee a comfort and a blessing of Salvation because thou art of that seed of promise to whom the promises were made in times that are past to the fathers of that lineage and of that house from whom our Savior sprang of the tribe of Judah and of the household of David, thy forefathers were those that held the Priesthood and administered before the altar, they built temples and Sanctuary's, they offered Sacrifices upon the altar, many of whom were descendants of Abraham but in the early times of prophets departed from the faith, even leaving the tribe and seed of Joseph; and mingling among the nati
ons of the earth until thy lineage is counted of the tribe of Judah but in thy veins there is a sufficiency of the blood of Joseph to number the[e] with the covenant seed of promise,
consequently upon thy head is ordained from before the foundation of the world, a right belonging to the holy Priesthood, that administers in all the Spiritual blessings of the Gospel that shall never be taken from thee: and from among thy posterity there are those that shall be called mighty and great & powerful in their day & generation. and one that shall be of the express likeness and Spirit of his Grandfather, shall do a work that shall beget honor to the names of his fathers, it shall therefore be remembered upon thy head according to the holy order of God, in handing down from generation to generation the power and blessings of the Holy Priesthood: and thine inheritance shall be made sure unto thee, and thou shalt be delivered from the hands of thine enemies, and be gathered w
ith thy father[']s house and family around thee, for thou shalt preside over thy family in time & in eternity, and they shall prove a solace and a comfort unto thee in the times of thy trouble and distress, even their prayers in secret shall lift thee out of deep mire, and when thou art languishing upon beds of sickness and in poverty distressed as a guardian Angel shall they prove unto thee,
and thou shalt be healed of all thy wounds, the times of thy greatests sorrow and trouble are past, and evil and designing people that have wronged thee of thy rights & taken away from thee thy temporal honors and this world[']s goods their names shall be forgotten when thine shall be remembered, to many generations, the Spirit and wisdom of God shall be peculiar to thy heart, and many things shall be unfolded to thee that is yet to be revealed in the times of the future, and when thou shalt hear it thine ears shalt tingle and thy heart be made glad for the blessings and jo
ys of the Holy Priesthood, with all its attendant powers according to the plan of Salvation. I seal upon thine head with a life that is eternal, immortal & everlasting in the name of Jesus Christ - Amen
