Mormon History, Mar 26, 1849

[Quorum of Twelve] On Monday evening, the 26th, still February, no March 26th, Quorum voted to send Amasa Lyman and Orin P. Rockwell on a mission to the gold mine of California to counsel with brethren there and to carry an epistle to the faithful and return with those who may be coming in the fall, etc. After a few minutes conversation it was voted that M. A. Lyman and O. P. Rockwell go on that mission. President Young instructed the general clerk to write to Sam Brannan to send him $25,000 and the church $50,000.
