[Joseph Smith] Sunday. Because it is raining, the normal meeting is canceled, and Joseph preaches on board the Maid of Iowa. (1)

[Joseph Smith Diary] Sunday, April 14th 1844 Rainy day. No meeting at the stand. Committee of the council [of Fifty] met in the P.M. at my office. (2)

Nauvoo, Illinois. Joseph Smith again preached on board the recently landed steamer Maid of Iowa. (3)

[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] 15th Met in council with the twelve to arange the Appointments of the conferences for the season. (4)

Erastus Snow: Appointed 15 April 1844 to campaign in Vermont for Joseph Smith as president of United States. (5)

Presidential candidate Joseph Smith publishes a letter in the TIMES AND SEASONS in which he says "I go emphatically, virtuously, and humanely, for a THEODEMOCRACY, where God and the people hold the power to conduct the affairs of men in righteousness." William Law writes in his journal: "Since [general] Conference Almon Babbit[t] came to me, and said, that Joseph Smith wished a reconciliation and that if I would let all drop and say nothing about it, and be friendly, he would restore me to my office of the First Presidency and raise me higher than ever, & would send me a writing to that effect. I told Mr. Babbit[t] that I could not be bought, that if J. Smith wanted reconciliation with me he must make public acknowledgement and cease from his abominations &c" (6)

William Law: ! rejected offer from Joseph Smith Jr. 15 Apr. 1844 to be restored to church positions if he stopped opposing polygamy q(5)

[Joseph Smith] The Twelve draw up a list of upcoming conferences throughout the East and appoint over 300 missionaries to go on political missions throughout those states electioneering for Joseph. By this date, Dr. Foster is told that he will be tried in a Church court on the charges made by Joseph on April 13. The trial is to take place April 20, 1844. Foster begins gathering witnesses to testify in his behalf. (1)

Nauvoo, Illinois. Joseph Smith settled with Dan Jones for the purchase of the Maid of Iowa steamer. (8)

[Joseph Smith Diary] Monday, April 15th 1844 At home. Rode out in the P.M. (2)

Joseph Smith sends Almon Babbit to William Law seeking reconciliation. (9)

[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] 16th Met in Council with the Twelve. (4)

[Joseph Smith Diary] Tuesday, April 16th 1844 At home. 5 P.M. Had a long talk with Chaunc[e]y L. Higbee and Esq[ui]r[e] Marr in front of my house. Read to them Dr. Williams and Mr. Eatons affidavits before E[s]q[ui]r[e] Wells. (2)

[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] 17th Spent the day at home to work in my garden. I planted a quantity of Potatoes. (4)

[Joseph Smith Diary] Wednesday, April 17th 1844 P.M. Rode out. This days Nauvoo Neighbor printed Williams and Eatons affidavit about Jackson, Foster, Laws &c. and my reply to the Washington Globe. (2)

[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] 18th I met in council today I was quite unwell with a severe Cold. /R D Foster Wilson & Wm Law Jane Law & Howard Smith of scott Co were Cut off from Church & Council./ (4)
