[Brigham Young Sermon] There are a few ideas respecting our faith, doctrine and belief - to the Elders of Israel if we have not yet learned as a body - whoever magnifies his calling in the flesh it will be as laborious as any manual labor - in his labors he will find those principles exhibited that will preserve men in the flesh - whoever goes a preaching and ceases to bear his testimony - if he converts anyone - he will only apostatize and go to the devil and be damned - go and bear your testimony in the name of Jesus Christ that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and the Book of Mormon is true - if Holy Ghost don't bear testimony and carry it home to your hearers, they are only converted to be damned - I tell you the truth and its enough to you, its better than all can be said - to save Israel and prepare the rest of hell - the LDS bind their feelings - Water cant drown it - fire cant burn it - the sects and priests know nothing - there is not a man on the face of the earth now, ever was or ever will be but has had a portion of the gospel - it is the light of the eye and the sun and reveals light, arts and sciences - their tabernacles are guided by the supreme influence of the Almighty, there is no heathen nation but has the Spirit of the Lord - it takes all the gospel preached in the days of Jesus Christ to save a man - it takes just as much gospel to make them an angel of the devil - the glory of the saints is not poured out alike - every man will be judged according to his works and how he lived - he will be punished according to the magnitudes of his crimes - they are just as ignorant of hell as of heaven they know nothing about it - the same priests will take a thief to heaven - the man that spills innocent blood will be damned - those men who killed Joseph and Hyrum Smith will be damned and no one can help it but the honorable of the U.S. will not go there - they will not hear them - a man may have [-] the kingdoms all his days till 99 years of [-] and wont begin - for their is an a [-] of them - and there is a principle that will increase until they become sons of God. The astronomer is as much in the shade in regard to matter as old Deacon Homespun was to the astronomer - you have not got the glasses that I see through - what's the difference between the Father and Son? the one is a little older than the other, to see the knowledge there is in the world - it makes me ashamed! it makes as much to make an angel to the devil as to the Lord - and I can prove there are Gods many and Lords many - I say to every man that comes to this valley - if he rejects the test - it will sink him lower than he was before - if I bear testimony that Joseph Smith is a prophet and the Book of Mormon is true - and he rejects it - it will prepare him for a hotter damnation - but all men will not be damned alike - I am a perfect Bible myself and always shall be. Jesus says in my Fathers house there are many mansions - if it were not so I would have told you. When a man can go no further then the Lord will lend him a helping hand - I have seen the [-] of Jesus Christ many a time - yes flesh of his flesh and bone of his bone - I am his natural born - we are made to be heirs of God and joint heirs of Jesus Christ, the devil creates pain - the Lord heals the sick - devil brings darkness and the Lord gives light - we are the children of our Father in Heaven and to share with him in His glory - its the Spirit of the Almighty that brings to our remembrance all things, present and to come - you have a portion of meat this day in due season - I know what I know, and testify it is truth - I ask no favor of all this world and if they kill this body - when I get my resurrected body - if Joseph had his resurrected body he would slay millions - this world is good for nothing yet the saints know how to enjoy it. -- SLC Bowery [Thomas Bullock Minutes, LJA; Thomas Bullock—LDS Church Reporter, 1844-56.C, Archives, Church History Library, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City, Utah.; GCM, Archives, Church History Library, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City, Utah..; Leonard J.
