[Brigham Young Sermon] Several things yet to bring up, emigration, carrying companies, mills, righting up divisions. I want every man of 1st division to take his ream of paper unless he intends to go [-] and how with the designs of the Almighty in doing the thing you have agreed to do. I say to 1st division [-] last spring I fitted up 8 wagons to go, and spent the summer. I have had 800 worth of horses and mules stolen. 16 horse and ox wagons fitted up at my expense and taken families. This [-] me [-] teams and means to buy. I am 3 provisions. 1st I prefer the 1st division to furnish me wagons and drivers with provisions. Give me teams to carry my family. Two presses, paper, type, two mills [-] mills church records. About 15 tones weight. If the brethren will fit not them out I will help fit them out. If the brethren are not satisfied take my teams and send them [-] or else I go in for a carrying [-]. Young heifers, dry cows and young cattle shall be rigged up to remove my company. If a man in the valley will not send back his teams, they will be sent back in the responsibility of the officers. In the valley they voted we had redeemed our vote in finding a healthy place. If 4 or 5 men will go into the carrying company and attend to it they may make money by it. I intend to have fitters made for our horses next spring. We lost horses but Indians would be to blame if they could not steal them. -- Winter Quarters, Nebraska [Thomas Bullock Minutes, LJA; Thomas Bullock—LDS Church Reporter, 1844-56.C, Archives, Church History Library, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City, Utah.; GCM, Archives, Church History Library, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City, Utah..; General Church Minutes.
