[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] 7th Col Kane Called upon me at my tent for the last time as he was about to leave for the east. He had been sick for several weeks but was now getting better. Before he left he desired to receive his Patriarchal Blessing from under the hands of Father John Smith. I went with him to the tent of the Patriarch who lade his hands upon the head of Col Kane & blessed him. I wrote the blessing & presented Col Kane with a copy of the same of my hand writing. I was with Presidents Young & Richard dur[ing] the evening.
