[Hosea Stout Diary] Sunday October the 4th 1846. Went to meeting. Orson Pratt spoke on the first principles of the Gospel, as there were some present who did not belong to the Church. He delivered an able discourse, after which there was some letters cried of which were from some of the brethren in the army
During intermission the committee appointed to lay of the City into wards and appoint Bishops over them came round on that business.
At 4 oclock there was another meeting[.] Here the vox populi was taken not to buy of any pedlars who came in here to trade but to let them go and sell to our committee, who were appointed to buy up all things which were bought in the place provided it is needed and can be had at a reasonable price it not to let them take it back again.
