Mormon History, Oct 19, 1846

The Mormon Battalion under the command of Col. Cooke begins its march to California. On the same day, John D. Lee and Howard Egan set out to return to the LDS encampment in Council Bluffs, taking with them $2,447.32 worth of battalion wages in checks, currency and coin.
