[William Clayton Writings] Sunday 25th. A.M. at the Temple Heard Pres J. preach. P.M. met singers &c Evening attended quorum. Prest J. gave some important instructions - we had an interesting season.[session?] (2)

[Anointed Quorum] Prayer circle meeting "over the store"--second anointing for John and Clarissa Smith, and for Isaac and Lucy Morley . (3)

[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] 26 A Cold wind from the north. Br Reed worked for me a part of the day. I met with the quorum in the evening + but meeting Closed soon after we arived. Fathers John Smith & wife & Isaac Morley & wife met with the quorum in the afternoon & evening. I took a severe Cold & had a sick night. /Father John Smith & wife Isaac Morley & wife Recd their 2d Anointing & sealings./ (4)

Joseph Smith writes in his journal: "Held court at the Mansion. City of Nauvoo vs. O. F. Bostwick on complaint of Hyrum Smith for slanderous language concerning Hyrum and certain females of Nauvoo. Fined Bostwick $50 and costs." Hyrum Smith had two secret plural wives at this time in addition to his legal wife. (5)

[Joseph Smith Diary] Monday, February 26th 1844 At home. P.M. Held Court at the Mansion. City of Nauvoo vs O[rsimus] F. Bostwick on complaint of Hyrum Smith for slanderous language concerning Hyrum and certain females of Nauvoo. Fined Bostwick $50.00 and costs.

F[rancis] M. Higbee, his attorney, gave notice he should appeal to the Municipal court and then to the circuit court. I told him what I thought of him trying to carry such a suit to Carthage. It was to stir up the mob, and bring them upon us &c. [several lines left blank]

Prayer Meeting over store. P.M. John Smith there. Eve[ning] Father Morley there. Had his second anointing in evening. John Smith and wife had their second anointing. Foggy. (7)

[Apostle Wilford Woodruff Journal] 27th I arose sick in the morning. A Cold had settelled in my face & teeth & I was in pain through the day. I had a number of visiters through the day. Br & Sister Benbow Sister Bunday & Job, & others. Br Reed & Snow worked for me to day. I went to bed about dark sick & spent a severe night of pain. I did not sleep any during the night. (4)

Presidential Candidate Joseph Smith mails copies of his pamphlet GENERAL SMITH'S VIEWS OF THE POWERS AND POLICY OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES to"President and Cabinet, Supreme [Court] Judges, Senators, Representatives, principal papers in the U.S. all the Governors, and many postmasters and individuals. In all about 200." Joseph Smith calls a meeting of the Twelve and others "for the purpose of selecting a company to survey [explore] Oregon and California - and select a site for a new city for the saints," (5)

[Joseph Smith] Joseph mails his political platform, "Views of Powers and Policy . . ." to all national elected officials, newspapers, postmasters, etc. (8)

Mailed Genierail Smith's Views to the President and Cabinet, Supreme [Court] Judges, Senators, Representatives, principal papers in the U.S. all the Governors, and many postmasters and individuals. In all about 200. [several lines left blank] Cool and clear. River clear of ice. (7)

[Quorum of Twelve] "Minutes of a meeting of the Twelve to select a company to survey Oregon and California, and select a site for a new City."

At a meeting of the Twelve, at the Mayor's office in Nauvoo, Feb. 27, 1844. 7 o'clock P.M. B. Young, Parley Pratt & O. Pratt, W. Woodruff, J. Taylor, Geo[rge] A. Smith, W. Richards & 4 others being present. — called by previous notice by instruction of President Joseph Smith for the purpose of selecting a company to survey [explore] Oregon and California — and select a site for a new city for the saints,

1) Jonathan Dunham volunteered to go

2) Phineas H. Young Volunteer

3) voted David D. Yearsley

4) voted that David Fulmer be one

5) " (and) Alphonzo Young (James Emmett, George D, Watt & David Spencer were requested to go)

6) voted James Emmet

7) voted George D. Watt

Voted that the above persons be notified to meet with the quorum (council) on Fri[day] evening next at the assembly room.
