Painesville Republican publishes Warren Parrish's February 5 letter to the editor, asserting that Joseph said "that the audible voice of God instructed him to establish a Banking-Anti-Banking Institution, which, like Aaron's rod, should swallow up all other banks ... and grow and flourish and spread from the rivers to the ends of the earth, and survive when all others should be laid in ruins.". (1)

Missionary Wilford Woodruff and his companion "repaired to the sea shore and clensed our feet with pure water & bore testimony against eight housholds before God who had rejected us or turned us from their Doors the evening before." (2)

Far West, Missouri. Joseph Smith received Doctrine & Covenants 113, a revelation identifying the stem of Jesse and the rod and root of Jesse in Isaiah 11. (5)

Zion's Watchman prints Parley P. Pratt's angry letter of May 23, 1837, causing embarrassment to Church leaders in Missouri. Warren Parrish furnished the non-Mormon newspaper with a copy of the problematic letter. (6)

Salmon Gee: Dropped from office and disfellowshipped 6 Mar. 1838 by a church conference (3)

Zera Pulsipher: "ordained" a president of the First Council of Seventy 6 Mar. 1838 (3)

William W. Phelps and John Whitmer were excommunicated from the Church by the Council at Far West, Missouri. Marcellus Cowdery was disfellowshipped. Some time afterwards W. W. Phelps was received back into the Church by baptism. (6)
