Mormon History, Dec 25, 1847

[Hosea Stout Diary] Saturd Dec 25 1847. We found all well at conference. In the forenoon the officers of the church were passed the ordeal as is usual.
One King was taken up today for stealing a blanket and had before the Councilmade pay four fold.
At noon went to Silas Richards, the place where the Twelve boarded and took dinner & then reported the circumstances of the Ball last night.
This after noon the High Priests, Elders Teachers & Deacons Quorums were set in order & officers appointed to preside where there were any vacancies. Many of the Brethren marveled at our going to the Ball when it had been so strictley put down by the Twelve yesterday. They did not even suspect that we had been sent.
In the after noon went home with Allen Taylor & staid all night. Had a very cold ride[.] It was seven miles.
