[Oliver Cowdery] James D. Bemis became a joint proprietor of the Western Repository and Genesee Advertiser published in Canandaigua, Ontario, NY. Bemis was editor of the paper until 1828. He no doubt knew William Wine Phelps and he probably knew Oliver Cowdery. (Broadhurst-Cowdery)
