[Hosea Stout Diary] Wednesday September 9th 1846. This was a dark rainy day & I was at home untill in the evening when I went to a council at Russells tent. There was a letter read from a brother in St Louis stating that Elders Hyde & Taylor passed through there on their way to England in good health & spirits.
President Young here recommended to leave our families here one or two years & fit out a company of men & go over to Bear river valley next spring and thus prepare a home for our women before we take them &c
